Style vs Style

Who cares?

The style vs style argument is silly. Why? Because there are more important enemies than someone else who studies martial arts. Chances are they probably aren’t going to be the one you end up attacked by on the “deadly street”. They probably got into it for the same reasons most do, to defend themselves from someone who attacks them, not to be the attacker. So if not the deadly kung fu bruce lee wannabe or the infinite amount of BJJ zombies apparently waiting for you outside, then who? Well, in my opinion the two biggest enemies are yourself, and bad health.

What’s one of the biggest problems everyone faces in life? Stress. Martial arts clearly helps with this, but if you do a style you don’t like then that will just add to your stress, and is just not fun. There is no point in wasting your time studying and practicing something you don’t enjoy and probably won’t use anyway. Karate draws me in more than anything else I’ve done or witnessed, so this is the path I’ve chosen. The practicality of the system is just a side benefit that comes from my desire and passion for Karate in the first place. Some may like boxing, or wrestling, or Aikido, perhaps Judo, or BJJ. It doesn’t matter. Enjoy your life, enjoy your time, and improve yourself and your health, the two biggest enemies you will probably ever meet.
